I had always hated the idea of committing troops to Afganistan and Iraq.

The UK government has announced that it will be reducing troop numbers in Iraq.
Good news, I guess, but about 5 years too late.

So with reduced number of troops in Iraq, does this increases the chance of Prince Harry being killed by insurgents? This man is third in line to the throne and all major news groups are covering the fact that he is going to Iraq. Basically spilling all intelligence on a VIPs whereabouts in a now unfriendly nation.

The sort of information that was leaked was his regiment (Blues and Royals) so if he isn’t wearing a Kevlar helmet with “WALES” written on it he will be wearing a beret with the appropriate cap badge on it. BBC News24 reported the fact that he will be mostly driving a scimitar tank with a three-man crew. This could make him an easier target for any would be suicide bomber.

If Prince Harry does get assassinated on his tour in Iraq, no doubt there will be a national out pouring of grief lead by the news groups that caused it. Much in the same way that his poor mother met her end and the weeks of irrational mourning that followed back in 1997.

So the British army is pulling out of Iraq, and committing more troops to Afganistan.

The mission was to take out Osama Bin Laden, the mythical leader of the illusive Al Qaeda terrorist group.

Five years later we have neither killed Osama Bin Laden, know the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden or even know if he needed killing in the first place.

I’m not saying we should underestimate terrorists, but I think with the vast money and resources the coalition has and the “big Brother” society each nation of that coalition lives in, it should be easy to find some troglodyte, who can only be seen on grainy video footage next to an old AK-47 rifle and a donkey.

As I have said before, the aim of a terrorist is to create terror. Ignore them, give them no airtime, fear them not and let the peaceful majority make the news.
