The Battle For Burma

I love these news stories. I truly do.
The stories where people rise up together to fight for something that is wrong.
Burma or Myanmar as it is sometimes called, is going through a radical change.
Fifty thousand Burmese citizens lead by monks have joined in protest against it’s own government, the Junta Military. There have been casualties on both sides.
The Burmese protesters have all asked for democracy.
Even though Mike's Soapbox knows that democracy isn’t all its cracked up to be, I still believe that the Burmese people deserve it. As they have all announced in one voice and asked for democracy by name and people have died for it.

I still remember the fall of Sobodan Milosovic in 2000. What a great day the “Bulldozer revolution” was.
Too many people were tired of the dictator and too many people wanted a change, everyone turned out and everyone helped. Farmers knocking down walls with tractors and people taking to the streets even police joined in. it was a great sight.

This is what should have happened in Iraq. A dictator or regime should be taken down by its own people, when they are ready to do so. At the point where they all announce in one voice “NO MORE”, there will be no stopping the tide. The Iraq people were not ready, and the country is now in ruins.

The people need to be ready for change. Serbia wanted the change. They were screaming for better days, they got them.
Burma is screaming too. I hope they get everything they ask for. And I wish the protesters every success against such a powerful foe.
